DESTROYING NATIONAL IDENTITY OF SERBS IN KOSOVO AND METOHIA
T• This issue leading to disappearance of Serbian existence in the area is hardly mentioned in the media. Those who have driven along the Kosovo roads after 1999 know what the road sign names look like.. Many place names in Serbian language were crossed out. In many villages today there are no Serbs, their homes are burned down and vandalized. The place names were written in Albanian language.
Three hundred thousand Serbs have been expelled from Kosovo, and it becomes more certain, as the time goes by, that no one will return to their home village where he lived before 1999.
These people are slowly being erased from the list of Kosovo inhabitants, their land taken by somebody else, the place names, Serbian names of cities, villages and streets are there no more.
Hundreds of Orthodox Christian shrines were destroyed, Serbian tombs desecrated. Serbian language is spoken with fear in Kosovo. We are forced to keep silent, but we want to raise our voice. The table contains some names of the cities and villages from Kosovo Morava county..
• In the identifications issues by UNMIK, Serbian letter “Ć” that normally comes at the end of the last name, is being replaced by Albanian caracter ''Ç''. Almost all place names in Kosovo have been renamed to bear Albanian names. Post codes have been changed. All monuments throughout Kosovo erected for the Serbs have been destroyed and new ones were made to honor Albanians instead.
